My professor in one of my fashion merchandising classes said that fashion trends mimics history as it always repeats itself. You can see this every day and pretty much pinpoint every item as something that rose from the dead. If it didn’t, there is a small chance it is actually tasteful. This whole brat movement has got to go and honestly every microtrend that has emerged in the past year. I read an article from Who What Wear to see their predictions from the past that will be present moving forward.

Who What Wear predicts that these trends will reemerge in 2024: High Fashion Sportswear, The Corporate Look, Peplum, Eighties Glamour, Polo Shirts, and Capris. 

6 Dated Trends That Will Make a Comeback in 2024 | Who What Wear

High Fashion Sportswear: Ah yes, love this. Chunky sneakers, joggers, crewnecks sweatshirts, could you find a Fall outfit more perfect? You can make this look so elevated and streetwear ready if you have the right pieces and I am looking forward to finding those. Dad shoes have been here for a while, but I think that they will stick around. I think that a sidebar off of this trend is the boxer pants and shorts. Effortlessly cool. 

The Corporate Look: Great, now I have a reason to get more blazers! The Fall season and corporate wear look great together and I cannot wait to become involved. This article specifically refers to the ‘exaggerated shoulders’ and ‘Scandi style’ with relaxed silhouettes. I love a loose fitted pant suit, and I even brought my trench coat from home, yes, I know I am only in Charlotte. Either way this is one of my favorite looks. The weather next week is a high of 74 degrees. Do I have no wait? Never. Effortlessly chic. 

Peplum: They said peplum is back, but more in a sleek way. Damson Madder has my favorite peplum looks with dresses and matching sets in beautiful patterns and eclectic colors. I like this prediction; I am here for it. I need more of it! 

Eighties Glamour: Out with the Y2K, in with the 80s. Thank goodness! I have been waiting for this day. They particularly note the voluminous silhouettes that we will be seeing, and I can get behind this. I love the drama, the personality, the fun! I am looking forward to pairing a large silhouette with a collared shirt or a belt, or both, this Fall.

Polo Shirts: Salt burn inspired; preppy polo is back. For me, it is giving eclectic grandpa. I am not mad about it; I just do not know if I will participate. I do not look great in a polo for some reason but paired with some jeans I am sure the right person can rock it. 

Capris: That is a no from me. Please do not get involved in this. Shorts or pants, just pick one, not that hard! Thank you.
